Staying Healthy on the Road
Taking care of your health is possibly the most important thing you could do. But wait- how can I travel and take care of my health? Here are some approaches to help keep your butt in gear.
-Food: Your diet, the food you eat, is one of the biggest ways you can impact your health. A balanced, nutritious diet will make you feel good while a diet full of junk food is surely to lead you in the wrong direction. Find ways to make healthy eating part of your travels. Stay at an accommodation that has a good restaurant with healthy options on location or within walking distance. Perhaps you may want a place with a kitchen so you can cook your own meals, too.
-Exercise: Keeping your body in shape means you’ll have to move it. Stay at a hotel with a gym and/or pool. If it doesn’t, see if a local gym has day passes you can purchase. You can also go for a jog or stream workout videos online. Or perhaps your daily activities count as exercise, if you’re walking around a hilly city or going on a hike.
-Relax: Make sure you get plenty of sleep on your trip. This is especially true for people with jetlag. You can do some yoga or meditation, read a book, or go for a stroll. The idea is to give yourself time to unplug.
-Have Fun: Laughing and enjoying yourself in general releases hormones your body needs to keep you feeling like your best self. Do activities and seek the company of people you enjoy.
